The Business Development and Marketing Executive supports assigned practice and industry groups with a variety of business development and marketing projects. The incumbent will take an active role in learning about the service offering, lawyers, and clients of the assigned groups, and work closely with colleagues across offices to enhance the firm's brand and business pipeline.

Job Description

The Business Development Executive works within an established Business Development team which assists in preparing new business proposals, capability pitches, and formal RFP responses.As a hands-on contributor, the Executive will be assigned with tasks which marketing collateral, experience databases, contact lists, and other materials are accurate, consistent, and up to date. The role also supports the submission of rankings, awards, surveys, and recognitions for assigned groups, while updating relevant practice and industry information on both the Firm's website and intranet. Additionally, they help write and edit group descriptions, lawyer bios, and client presentations, conduct research on clients and competitors, and collaborate with the Creative team to produce branded materials for events and advertisements. The Executive also works with regional teams to plan client programs and manage the Firm's WeChat account, drafting posts when needed, and takes on other tasks as assigned.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree and have a 2-4 years of experience in business development or marketing-related roles. Strong writing and proofreading skills are essential, along with fluency in both English and Chinese. As the role serves a practice group with a strong focus in the China market, native-level Mandarin is a strong advantage.Business Development experience in law firms, which can include pitches, marketing communications, or events, is highly preferrable, though experiences from other professional services firms will also be considered. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, pipeline databases, or experience management tools such as InterAction, Salesforce, or Foundation is beneficial. Knowledge of market research tools and familiarity with law firm rankings, awards, and league table publications would be advantageous.The successful candidate will need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and good judgment. Soft skills like interpersonal communication, relationship-building, analytical skills and problem-solving skills are key factors of success. The hiring team will also assess the candidates' ability to work collaboratively with others and sensibility in decision-making. Finally, candidates should showcase their ability to manage tasks and deadlines effectively under pressure.
